Our October Camping Trip

October 17 - 18, 2008 - Conestoga State Recreation Area

In the middle of October, Mark decided he wanted to take us camping. It was great fun, but a very cold night. We had fun roasting hot dogs and marshmallows and the kids enjoyed running around, playing with the football and Frisbee, and of course helping dad set up the tent.

Mark was asked to give a devotional at a Scout Camp out that night, so after dinner we loaded into the car and headed to their camping spot - about a 15 minute drive. I couldn't resist taking these pictures - Sherman and Eliza look so cute all bundled up.

After a long cold night - (Sherman ended up in my bag on the cot with me, which wasn't so bad since it kept me warmer, and Eliza ended up in Mark's bag with him) - we had a delicious breakfast with applesauce, donuts, sweet rolls, Cheerios, and Hot Chocolate. The kids then had fun throwing rocks into the lake.

Sherman thought he was so funny leaning up and hugging the trees. Eliza tried but couldn't quite figure it out.

I think that rock throwing has definitely become a Bernards' tradition wherever water and rocks are present. Sherman still talks about throwing rocks with Grandpa Bernards last summer...

Looks like you are raising some tree huggers.
