We were excited to learn that there will be a Lincoln Safari 2009 with about 31 new sites to visit. They did not receive a grant for the coming year so there will not be any prizes, but they provided a new Explorer Book and Map to us when we validated our 2008 Explorer book. It will be fun to explore the new sites next year and learn more about places to see and go here in Lincoln. This has definitely been a great way to get to know the city in which we live!

Lincoln Safari 2008 - Part 2
Here are a few more Safari pictures for your enjoyment. The hill Sherman and Eliza are running up is at a place called Shoemaker Marsh (basically a wetland of sorts.) They had a great time running along the trail. Sherman was very excited about being the leader.

In downtown Lincoln's Historic Haymarket area, Iron Horse Park is a great place to go to see trains. They also had this little jungle gym shaped like a train. The kids had a great time climbing.
Precious!

The last site we visited was called Oak Lake Park. Since we went in November it was pretty chilly. Sherman was really excited about the slides and hustled right down the first one he could find and landed in a big puddle of water. Even though it was cold, wet pants did not deter him from having fun.
We love swings!

At the end of November, the Children's Zoo sponsored a Winter Weekend. We brought our Safari book and showed that we had visited all 35 sites during the year and were entered into an Advanced Explorer drawing for some prizes to be given away some time in December - we'll let you know if we win. As you can see it was pretty cold, but the kids had a great time anyway.
Our final stop was a ride on the ZO&O Railroad. Sherman was very excited about riding in the "Caboose" and facing backwards for the whole ride.
